Format
1) How the Service Works - Introduction
The process begins with the Oral History General Information Questionnaire. This form documents basic information about you. Once completed, please mail or fax the form to Boomers Plus Communications. It will then be used by one of our producers in preparing for the preliminary orientation.
Next, the producer will schedule and conduct a preliminary orientation in order to become more acquainted with you. This can be done either in person or by phone. Following this discussion, the producer will then conduct additional research on key areas of your experiences and interests.
The producer will then develop customized interview questions based on their preliminary work. Prior to the interview, the producer will supply you with the list of questions so that you can review them and provide additional input.
Once the interview is completed, the producer will begin work on the final steps of the Oral History - depending on which service you choose; Video, Audio or Print.
A video interview is a great way of telling your story. For a video Oral History, the producer and a camera operator will come to your home, office or other area of your choice for the interview. The interview typically takes place over two hours - with a short break in the middle. At this time you will supply the producer with 10-15 photographs to be used in the production. Also, you'll have the opportunity to select the music to be used - selecting from our large library of production music.
Next, the videotapes from the shoot are forwarded to our editing team - which constructs the final program, integrating the selected music and your photographs. After initial editing, the producer will provide you with a DVD copy to review for approval. Once approved, duplications can be provided - with custom labels and storage case.
An audio recording of your stories is another available option that's a very cost-effective alternative. Your interview is first digitally recorded, then it is digitally edited and enhanced with music. The final program is provided on audio CD - which allows for each track to be a separate topic or story.
Documenting your legacy in printed form is also an Oral History option. From your interview, our writers prepare your stories and develop a printed booklet, complete with photographs.

Will my DVD have a menu? A DVD menu is an option that is available.
How long will it take to produce the finished program? Typical production of a video Oral History takes 3-4 weeks. An audio Oral History can usually be completed in as little as a week. For the printed Oral History, this can usually be ready for final printing in 2 months. However, when a special deadline is required, we make every attempt to meet your timeframe.
Do a portion of your profits go to charitable organizations? Yes! 10% of the profits from each production are donated to the Alzheimer's Association to support their work in confronting this terrible disease.
Can I make my own Audio CD or Video DVD copies? Yes! We do not reserve the rights to the program and you are free to make as many DVD copies as you need. However, we do offer duplications as a service to our clients.
Can I provide my own questions? Yes! During the preliminary steps in the process, you will have the opportunity to provide your input on what you'd like to be asked in the interview. |
